Tower Opening & Branch Practice

14/09/2019

As part of the Ride & Stride event between Cransley, Mawsley & Broughton, the Cransley Bellringers will be opening the tower up for members of the public. You’ll be able to climb the tower, see all six 17th century bells, see what the bell ringers get up to and have a go on a bell (under supervision).

There will be no charge, but we will be asking for donations, which will go towards maintaining the bells and the tower.

Anyone is welcome to climb the tower, provided they have no heart or respiratory conditions, as the climb is quite a long way and a bit dusty.

The Tower will be open 10am to 2pm after which there will be a branch practice from 2pm to 4pm. In this time there will be no climbing the tower, but members of the public are welcome to come and hear/see the ringers in action.

Any ringers are welcome to join us at our practices on Saturdays from 4:00pm to 5:30pm with tea and coffee afterwards. More info can be found on our website:

If anyone in the area is interested in learning to ring (especially in the church benefice, as Cransley is the only tower with bells hung for ringing) please contact the ringing master (Rhys Skillman) at:
